In particular, negotiations took place with Nazar Agakhanov, Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan; Toiguly Nurov, Minister of Industry and Construction of Turkmenistan; Fatu Haidara, Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO); and Dmitry Maryasin, Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
Special attention was given to the development of trade-economic and transport-logistics cooperation, the expansion of industrial cooperation, and the implementation of joint projects in priority sectors.
An agreement was reached with the Turkmen side on signing the Agreement on the functioning of the Border Trade Zone (Shavat, Khorezm region – Dashoguz, Dashoguz velayat) and its launch in the near future. This will be an important step in increasing mutual trade and stimulating business activity between the two countries. Also, the issue of approving a joint Action Plan to increase the volume of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to $2 billion was agreed upon.
For reference: The trade turnover with Turkmenistan in 2024 amounted to $1.15 billion. In the first half of 2025, the volume of mutual trade approached $500 million.
With UNIDO, an agreement was reached to approve a joint Partnership Program for the medium term, including initiatives in industry, infrastructure modernization, energy-efficient technologies, and human capital development with the involvement of international expertise.
With UNECE, prospects for expanding cooperation within the framework of SPECA (Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia), and implementing joint projects in the fields of green economy, innovation, logistics, smart agriculture, and other areas were discussed.
